How To Advertise To Current Customers

Advertising your business is the hardest thing to figure out.  So why do we make it that much harder somtimes.  Who do you think would be the easiest type of potential customer to advertise too?  How about you current customers!  I know that sounds like common sense, but I can’t believe the number of business that I talk to that do nothing with their current customers.

Advertising To My Current Customers

So what is the best way to advertise to my current customers?  You might think that sounds like common sense too, but you do need to be careful with how you use your customer database.  But first, how do I develop my database….good question. There are several ways to gather customer information. The easiest way is just to ask for it.  When you are finishing up with a customer, simply ask them for their email address.

If they ask why, tell them that you offer specials sometimes that are only available to current customers and that way they will never miss out on one of your specials.  You may be thinking to yourself….I don’t offer special offers to my current customers. You should if you don’t already…it is one of the best ways to generate quick sales.  Maybe you are not the best at asking customers for their information or maybe your employees always forget.  A creative way for customers to offer up without asking is to have monthly giveaways.  It doesn’t need to be anything expensive…maybe it is only a gift card to your store.  Put a registration box up front with a registration pad of paper that requires their name and email address to enter. People will do that without you even having to ask.

How To Use Your Customer List

This is where you need to be careful.  If you start sending them stuff all of the time your customers will not only opt out of your email datatbase, but they will opt out of being your customer.  Choose wisely how often you send offers to them.  I think once a month is a good number, but it can be more if you have sales more often.  And remember that special offer for current customers, come up with one if you haven’t before and make sure that they know that it is an offer only for current customers.  It will make them feel like you are really offering something good and it will give them that warm fuzzy feeling too. Making this an actual marketing strategy instead of just random info will definitely make a difference to your business.
